Why the world needs Feminism?

The Issue:

First of all, let’s get it out of the way, that what I mean by the use of the world “feminism” is equality for women the treatment of them as a human being and basic rights same as the others. to be honest, This has been an long time coming, but due to the unfolding of some recent events it was clear , that I needed to say something regardless of the fact if someone hears it or not. Some people, who will be reading this, will be reading this will start making judgments before;

I even get a chance to make an opinion. I have lived my life around some bright people like my mother, my sisters, colleagues, classmates, relatives and teachers who are also female by chance, and cause of it the biggest issue that needs to be addressed is the fact that instead of discussing the state of women rights they politicize it and it turns into a political argument which do pretty much nothing for the subject matter apart from gaining respect for some side and losing some for the other. I will not put a political spin on it unless it seems important.

The biggest problem I see nowadays is that people get extremely competitive and toxic even if they themselves aren’t involved or even related to a dialogue about a community and they open up a toxic conversation with self pity which community is more victimized and who suffers the most, I attribute this behavior to social media mostly cause most of the time it is those whiny, edgy teens and a few adults who think they are doing something important by talking about their trauma.

These in hindsight seem to be not much of a problem as it starts online and ends online. But NO, this is where the horror begins you’d think a picture, meme or YouTube video will not change a person’s personality or world view and that might be statistically true but even if 99 people don’t carry it, and the 1 does it is something not to take lightly. This might seem vague so let me put things in perspective, a pretty common thing nowadays is objectification , it seems like buzzword as it is overused and people don’t get it , so let’s see why women are thought to be invaluable , some prize to be attained (due to some very stupid societal construct) And when things are considered invaluable , they are seen as collectibles, an object to flaunt/showoff, a non human entity.Giving rise to objectifications,Being treated like a thing to be obtained and collected even though sub-consciously for some people it still hurts and the worse thing is it that it normalizes it.

VIOLENCE AND ABUSE AGAINST WOMEN :

You don’t take things seriously until the same thing start happening around you (some people still don’t). I won’t sugarcoat things here , this is a major problem , and people somehow find a way to trivialize this by asking the age old dumb question “where do you draw the line?” and let me translate this question into its raw form , at what point do I start being accountable to the abuse towards the victim. And the answer to that is somewhere! , and Yes everything from a snide comment to a touch to a slap counts , of course there is a need of context and it is very important but at some point you start seeing it as a constant, an unchanging , ever present, dead in the eyes “fuck you” to the victim. There is a new story on the web/TV/Social Media about Russia every next day, some good some bad, nothing really out of the blue and that fact made my heart skip a beat after I read about the de-criminalization of domestic violence in Russia and its implication, I drowned in fear, panic and anxiety despite the fact I have no one in Russia, didn’t stop the anxiety, as the reports were chilling…

I am not going to downplay their deeds; not domestic violence that they decriminalized, it was wife beating and killing at some point that they decriminalized. The cases rose from 36,000 to 6 million. Then they stated that police will not help the victim collect evidence and the fact that 75% of all calls of help by women to the emergency line weren’t forwarded to the police and 38 women die every day cause of their partners, In a perversion of justice they forced the victim of domestic violence to pay for the fine as her violent and penniless husband couldn’t. Not only in Russia , Denmark has followed quite a similar approach , while china and South-East Asia has always been notorious and I really need don’t need to tell you about the cases from the Indian sub continent as we all know the conditions as they surround us. I could continue with the examples but if you still haven’t caught the gist of what I am saying, you probably won’t.

I normally like and prefer to end my articles on a happy note but unfortunately for this one , I think it is best to not do that so you could understand the current weight situation . I’ll be continuing the article as I’ve more parts planned. Do tell me your review of the article.
